Sweepstakes is a feature to help organizations raise more money for their cause. Donors can enter to win a variety of prizes and experiences while helping fund something they care about.

About

Process

We were engaged with researching and designing a donor front-end experience and an administrative back end to create and manage each Sweepstake.

Competitive Research - We performed Competitive Analysis on a variety of products that offered a way for people to win a prize, auctions, lotteries, and more.

Flow - The information architecture of this feature was well thought out to help the user seamlessly browse, enter and donate to a sweepstakes. Administrators need to easily manage all entrants and draw a winner.

Sketch - Once a flow was in place, the next step was to sketch out effective layouts of the design before moving into wireframing.

Wireframe - Mobile and desktop mid-fidelity wireframes were built and iterated upon with stakeholders over the course of 2 weeks.

High-Fi - Wireframes were passed to a UI designer for polishing before going into development.

Usability Testing - Tests are currently in progress! User feedback will drive updates and changes to make the feature more successful.

Roles: UX Research and Design, Information Architecture, Usability Testing

Time: 4 weeks

Hypothesis: Users will be motivated to donate if they have a chance to win something of significance.

Brief: The client requested a comprehensive set of features for donors to be able to browse sweepstakes, enter by donating to the associated cause, a payment flow and to view their entries in a dashboard. On the back end administrators needed a form to be able to create a sweepstakes and a dashboard to view donations and draw the winners. There were also legal constraints to consider as sweepstakes have strict rules to abide by.

Deliverables: Mobile and Desktop Mid-Fi Wireframes, Usability Testing results, and recommendations

Sweepstakes has helped non-profit organizations raise over $14,000 since its month-long launch.

Research

A competitive analysis was performed on a variety of products such as Rally Up, onecause, Omaze and more. Gauging their strengths and weaknesses in comparison to our goals helped influence our design decisions regarding effective flow, user engagement and success with task completion.

Wireframing

Wireframing was primarily done in the mid-fidelity stage to help the stakeholders more easily digest the designs. The client and product team worked hand-in-hand with us to finalize the wireframes before handoff. A design system was built for this project from the ground up.

Hi-Fidelity

Our wireframes along with developer documentation were handed off to a UI designer for polishing. This design is now live on UncommonGood.

Usability Testing

Testing is vital to a projects success. This is currently in progress and we will update with those results soon!
